Affiliate Disclosure
Katabolic participates in affiliate marketing programmes. This means that some links on this site are affiliate links — if you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission. The price you pay is not affected.
We disclose this because we think you deserve to know. This page lists our current affiliate relationships and explains exactly how they work.
Current affiliate partners
Amazon Associates
We are a participant in the Amazon Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.co.uk. We link to Amazon for equipment, books, and some supplement products where Amazon offers a competitive price and reliable fulfilment.
MyProtein
We have an affiliate relationship with MyProtein, one of the UK's largest sports nutrition retailers. MyProtein products we link to have been personally tested or reviewed against our standard criteria. We focus primarily on their whey protein and creatine products, which offer strong value per gram.
Bulk
We have an affiliate relationship with Bulk (formerly Bulk Powders). We recommend Bulk products where they represent the best value option in a given category, particularly for their unflavoured protein powders and pure creatine monohydrate.
How this affects our recommendations
The short answer: it doesn't determine them. Here is how we actually decide what to recommend:
- We only recommend products our founder has personally used or that we have tested against objective criteria (protein content per £, third-party testing, ingredient quality)
- We do not rank products higher because they pay a higher commission rate
- We do not accept payment for editorial placement or "sponsored rankings"
- If a product we affiliate with has a significant drawback, we say so in the review
- If a non-affiliate product is the better recommendation, we will recommend it and explain why
Affiliate commissions help keep Katabolic running without charging for tools or content. But the moment our recommendations stop being trustworthy, the site stops being useful — so we have a strong incentive to keep them honest.
How to identify affiliate links
Affiliate links are not always visually distinct from regular links, but any page that includes them will carry a disclosure notice near the top. If you are ever unsure whether a link is an affiliate link, you can check the URL — Amazon affiliate links include a tag parameter (e.g. tag=katabolic-21).
