MyProtein Impact Whey Review — Is It Worth It?
MyProtein Impact Whey is the UK's best-selling protein powder for good reason — it delivers solid nutrition at a price that consistently undercuts the competition. If you want a reliable, no-nonsense whey concentrate, this is the benchmark everyone else is measured against.
What Is It?
Impact whey protein is a whey concentrate powder available in over 40 flavours. MyProtein positions it as their entry-level whey, sitting below Impact Whey Isolate in their range. It's manufactured in the UK and has won multiple industry awards for value.
Ingredients & Nutrition

Per 25g serving, you get 21g of protein, 1.9g of fat, and 1g of carbohydrates at 103 calories. That's an 84% protein content, which is excellent for a whey concentrate. The ingredient list is refreshingly short — whey protein concentrate, flavouring, and emulsifier (soy lecithin). Unflavoured versions are even simpler.
The amino acid profile is strong, with around 4.5g of BCAAs per serving including 2g of leucine. It does contain soy and milk allergens, and some flavours use sucralose as a sweetener. No proprietary blends or unnecessary fillers here.
Taste & Mixability
We tested Chocolate Smooth, Natural Vanilla, and Salted Caramel. Chocolate Smooth remains the safest bet — genuinely enjoyable with water and even better with milk. Natural Vanilla is pleasant but quite sweet. Salted Caramel divided opinion; some found it artificial.
Mixability is decent in a shaker but not perfect. You may get the odd lump if you don't shake vigorously. In a blender, it's completely smooth. The texture is slightly thicker than an isolate, which some people prefer.
Effectiveness
As a whey concentrate, it digests at a moderate pace — faster than casein but slower than an isolate. It's perfectly suited for post-workout recovery or as a convenient way to hit your daily protein target. Multiple studies confirm that whey concentrate supports muscle protein synthesis effectively, and the leucine content here is above the threshold needed to trigger that response.
For most people training 3-5 times per week, this will do the job just as well as products costing twice as much.
Value for Money
At £24.99 for a 1kg bag (roughly 40 servings), you're looking at about £0.50 per serving. During MyProtein's frequent sales, this can drop to around £0.35-£0.40 per serving, making it arguably the cheapest quality protein powder in the UK. Compared to Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard at nearly double the price per serving, the value here is exceptional.

Verdict
MyProtein Impact Whey earns its reputation as the UK's go-to protein powder. It's not the best-tasting or the highest quality, but the combination of solid nutrition, clean ingredients, and unbeatable pricing makes it hard to ignore. If you're on a budget or just starting out with supplements, start here. If you want something smoother and faster-absorbing, consider upgrading to an isolate.
